Prom throwback

Seeing as it's just been prom season, I thought I would look back on my year eleven prom last year and reflect on the brilliant time I had with everyone. Enjoy!

Getting ready, it looks like i'm poking myself in the eye with my eye liner here haha. I decided to do my own makeup for prom instead of having someone else do it for me because I quite like the way I do my own makeup and I don't really like other people touching my face.

After around three hours of getting ready and two trips to the hairdressers (not to mention several months of stressing), this was my final prom look. As soon as I stepped into my dress I instantly felt glamorous and actually really pretty, which for me was a big thing as I don't often feel that way about myself. I'm sure some people reading this will relate.

My dress was from Little Mistress and I think it cost around £70 - £80, which, trust me, is not a bad price for a prom dress! I fell in love with the dress as soon as I saw it; the pearls and embellishment on the neckline, the floaty, sheer overlays that created a beautiful drape over the polyester satin underskirt, the nipped in waist and soft nude colour all stood out to me over every other dress I tried on. I knew as soon as I saw it this would be the dress for me.

My little clutch bag was from New Look and it matched my dress perfectly.

The shoes were from Monsoon, and were the exact kind of heels I wanted; not too high, comfy and simple but elegant.

I had my hair styled by my hairdresser, and as a little extra touch I decided to add some little diamantes into my curls to add a final touch of sparkle to my locks. Even though I liked my hair style, looking back I kind of wish I'd have had my hair down and waved, but oh well, there's always my sixth form prom next year. Also, if i'm remembering correctly, I think about one hundred grips were used to hold my curls in a bun, so when it came to taking them out afterwards, my hair can only be described as a massive afro!

A group of seven friends and I travelled to prom in style; in a Scooby van! I originally wanted a limo but I was outvoted by everyone else. But, the Scooby van was very fun to travel in and nobody else went in one! I loved every minute of prom and I honestly would relive it any day. It's one of those things that you only get to experience once in your life, so you may as well enjoy it and make the most out of it so you have amazing memories to look back on.
